Renaissance Ceramics and Fabrics in Prato

ceramica-e-tessuto-pratoThe specialized museums of Prato (fabric) and Montelupo (ceramics) have collaborated to create the exhibit Ceramiche e Tessuti. Dialogo tra arti toscane del Rinascimento - Ceramics and Fabrics, Dialogue between two Renaissance Tuscan arts. These two Tuscan towns produced in the past - and still do - some of the best examples of fabrics and maiolica that museums consider "decorative" or "minor" arts. There is certainly a strong stylistic link amongst all decorative arts, and that link is demonstrated in the dialogue created between the objects in this exhibit. On display are Montelupo pieces from the 14th through 16th centuries and luscious fabrics (see photos below!) from Prato, Italy, and all of Europe. tessuto4a ceramica5 Ceramics and Fabrics, Dialogue between two Renaissance Tuscan arts: November 20 2010 to February 28 2011 Find out more about Prato's Textile Museum.
