Gay-friendly beaches in the Tuscan Maremma

Meet new people while you catch some rays

The beach of Marina di Albarese is covered in fine sand, surrounded by a pristine landscape, and is located in the heart of the Maremma Regional Park. The beaches, in the midst of an untouched, spectacular natural landscape, are the perfect place to meet the many gay tourists that have been coming here for years.

Once you’ve reached the beach by means of the ferry that leaves from the Marina di Albarese, begin walking south for about 20 minutes until you’re near the tower. Although not officially a nude beach, no one has ever been punished for “going it natural,” and swimmers have been doing it for years.

Marze beach: For those of you who planned on walking less, check out this beach between Castiglione and Marina di Grosseto. Just park and head towards the “Fuori Rotta” bar. Once you’ve reached the beach, head towards Castiglione until you’ve passed the dog beach.

Chiarone beach: To get there, you need to go to Capalbio (from Grosseto, drive 45km towards Rome), then follow the signs for Chiarone; once on the beach, walk north for about 10 minutes.
