by  Amiata

Monte Amiata, with its unconquered fortresses, medieval villages and uncontaminated woods, retains an atmosphere still intact and full of magic and mystery. Rich in previously unseen scenarios, still little known to mass tourism, this mountain is the ideal place to pronounce the fateful "I do".

A land rich in places filled with history and stories waiting to be discovered, the ancient Tuscan volcano offers original locations of great architectural value, suitable for civil weddings.

Monte Amiata also offers couples and their loved ones the opportunity to build personalized tours with intense emotional value, like walks through the vegetable garden, adventures in the woods, food and wine experiences at the area’s wine cellars, wine itineraries, aperitifs in the mountains and relaxation in 5-star hotels.

Here are five new places to celebrate a civil wedding.

On one side it dominates the ancient village and on the other it overlooks the varied nature surrounding it.

The Cassero of Roccalbegna was built in the 13th century by the Aldobrandeschi family and today, after restoration work that took place over the centuries, it is now more like a villa than a fortress.

Inside, there is a courtyard with a beautiful garden and it offers one of the most stunning views of Monte Amiata.

It will be like getting married right at the water’s edge, in the sense that the English-style park that welcomes newlyweds and their guests is below the level of the water contained in the ancient basin.

The Peschiera is a body of water initially created for trout-farming in the Middle Ages under the rule of the Aldobrandeschi Counts, towards the middle of the 15th century, and is located at the foot of Santa Fiora

Rich in vegetation, there are still trout in the Peschiera, while the park stretching around it also offers pleasant shaded areas where various flower species grow.

Rocca Aldobrandesca of Arcidosso

A mixture of nature, history and medieval architecture embraces Arcidosso.

The village is dominated by Rocca Aldobrandesca, one of the best-preserved and most ancient castles in Italy (10th – 14th century). To get there, you have to walk through a maze of streets, all uphill, and reaching it is an emotion with the flavor of conquest.

Today the castle contains art collections and exhibition itineraries, but its walls retain the flavor of ancient battles and a past history that lives on, despite the centuries gone by.

Today, the building retains its medieval guise and only the damaged battlements show the passing of time.

The Rocca of Piancastagnaio certainly does not go unnoticed, with its mighty walls and its two towers delivering the image of a building still intact, to anyone who happens to be passing through the village of Piancastagnaio.

The bare rooms allow you to imagine the noble splendor of the past and it is right here in these rooms that civil marriages can be celebrated.

You have to get to the Primo Rifugio (first lodge) and then venture into the beech forest.

The Monte Amiata Beech Forest is one of the largest in Europe and setting aside a corner of this forest for your wedding can be truly original.

In the center of the Beech Forest it is easy to be won over by a timeless atmosphere, where you can abandon yourself to the fantasy of an intimate moment as a couple, to share only with your loved ones.  A magical and dreamy moment for a unique wedding experience.
