Cycling Championships locations and itineraries

Up and down Tuscany and a final circuit in the beautiful Florence Our project UCI World Road Championship or simply Toscana2013 continues with more specific information about the itinerary the cyclists will follow during the event of September 2013. Here everyone is excited about this event because this is the first time that Tuscany will host a World Road Championship, even though there are thousands of amateur cyclists and a lot of champions. This is a video (in Italian) with the images of the itinerary in Lucca, Montecatini Terme, Fiesole and Florence. In Lucca, the race will pass over the famous walls of the city, in Montecatini Terme there will be the first climb to Montecatini Alto, after 45 kilometres the second climb to San Baronto da Lamporecchio and at the end of the descent there is Casal Guidi. In Florence, the circuit begins at the Artemio Franchi stadium, with two kilometres on level ground and then the 5 kilometres of the climb of Fiesole. The cyclists cover this path eleven times. After the main square of Fiesole there is a descent till Pian Del Mugnone. At the end of the descent there are two kilometres of ground level and then the hardest part of the itinerary: via Salviati and the descent to Piazza della Libertà in Florence. The last part is in the heart of the city of Florence, 2800 metres that lead to Viale dei Mille and finally the finish line at Mandela Forum.
