The story of wine in Castagneto Carducci

A cultural space where visitors can explore the winemaking history of Bolgheri, as well as tasting and purchasing local wines. The Bolgheri Wine Museum is situated in Castagneto Carducci, part of the Casone Ugolino complex, an old farm belonging to the Della Gherardesca family since the 1500s.

The museum conveys the importance of Bolgheri’s wine scene through striking setting designed by three-time Academy Award winner Dante Ferretti, as well as the curation of Professor Attilio Scienza, who takes visitors on a tour of the wine and food traditions of the Etruscans and Romans, wine in the Middle Ages and in the nineteenth century.

In a dedicated room, producers have the possibility to display their wines and explain their backstory, while the tasting room is the perfect place to enjoy local wines and take part in guided tasting sessions. More than 1,500 square meters, across two floors, provide wine lovers with an extraordinary visual, aromatic and sensory experience, in which technology plays its part in the form of talking holograms of leading local figures.
