Wine festivals: September in the villages of Tuscany

At the end of summer, the villages of the Tuscan countryside come alive to offer tastings of excellent wines and typical products

September is undoubtedly one of the best times to visit Tuscany: the colors of nature, the sweetness of autumn products and the decidedly pleasant climate provide the perfect setting for the many events dedicated to grapes and wine.

Impruneta, the village in the hills of Florence that is also famous for its terracotta, has been celebrating its peasant traditions with a Grape Festival since 1928.
Throughout the month of September a series of events take place in the historic town center and the town's districts battle it out with large floats and choreography during a huge a parade. The days are also packed with tastings, wine and local products stands, art exhibitions and events held in the town's museums.

Every year in Montecarlo, in the hills of the Lucchesia area, September is the month of the Wine Festival. The charming village comes alive with stands to taste local wines and sample typical dishes - spelt, artisanal pasta, Garfagnana trout - while numerous exhibitions are set in the palaces of the historic town center.

A Winery Festival that takes place every second weekend in September in Manciano. This is a true journey into taste, to discover local wines to try along with traditional dishes such as the ciaffagnoni - tasty crepes topped with pecorino cheese - wild boar or acquacotta.
Opening the event is an amazing horseback torchlight procession.

The Grape Festival in Scansano - the Tuscan town famous for the Morellino wine - is an invitation to learn about local traditions through wine, typical products and a craft market. It begins on the third weekend of September with open wineries and continues the following week with many events in the historic town center.

In one of the more iconic of the Tuscan countrysides takes place the historic Expo del Chianti Classico, every year in mid-September in Greve in Chianti: tastings of wine, olive oil, cured meats, cheeses and other typical products, as well as many artistic and cultural events, are scheduled.

The "WIne to WIne" festival is held every year during the month of September in Panzano in Chianti to taste old and new vintages of Chianti Classico and all the local IGTs wines.
The short route inside the main square of the village becomes an experience to be lived step by step: a real journey among the different food and wine realities, where producers tell their stories proposing their history and philosophy in a unique context.
