For ten centuries, between the 10th and the 1st century BCE, the Etruscans occupied a vast area corresponding to modern-day Tuscany, western Umbria and central to southern Lazio while also pushing into northern and southern Italy. Traces of Etruscan civilisation have, in fact, been found in various areas of Emilia-Romagna, Lombardy, Veneto and Campania.
