Despite taking up a large part of the province of Pistoia, the Valdinevole DOC area (Controlled Denomination of Origin) is one of the smallest in Tuscany. The area has been famous for its wine making for centuries. In fact, you can still see evidence of when the area was ruled over by Lucca in the way that wine is cultivated here. The main varieties of grapes grown in the Valdinevole area are Tuscan Trebbiano and Vermentino, although other local varieties are also cultivated alongside these more famous ones.

It’s the Trebbiano grapes that produce the Bianco della Valdinevole. This famous white wine, with its fresh, balanced flavour, is produced in the area between Montecatini and Pescia. This wine has done particularly well on foreign markets, especially in Switzerland, Germany and Great Britain.
