Beach Honey from Migliarino-San Rossore Park

liquor
Wine, olive oil and honey

Sea-scented honey produced exclusively in the coast of Migliarino, San Rossore, Massaciuccoli Park

Beach Honey from Migliarino-San Rossore Park has a unique flavor and smell reminiscent of “the scent of the sea”.

Families of bees, raised in wooden hives, are located on the beach, sheltered by a natural dune, in an unspoiled environment rich in typical Mediterranean wild vegetation. Mediterranean strawflower, Otanthus maritimus, Centaurea sphaerocephala, Solidago sempervirens, Greater knapweed and the most common types of Cistus, which colonize most of the coastal dunes, give this honey exceptional aromas and scents.

The production area includes the entire territory of the Migliarino-San Rossore Park and part of the Pisan and Versilia coastline: Marina di Torre del Lago, Marina di Vecchiano and San Rossore.

Characteristics

Beach honey from Migliarino-San Rossore Park can have different colors but the most common is light-amber; its consistency is transparent and fluid.
It is produced from May to August and tends to crystallize in the cold season.
The flowers of Mediterranean strawflower are a key “ingredient” for honey, since the microscopic drops of essential oils that bees collect on its petals give it its distinctive “marine” flavor and its recognized organoleptic qualities.
