The honey produced in the coastal park of Migliarino di S. Rossore Massaciuccolihas a unique and easily recognisable seaside aroma.
The bees are kept in wooden beehives which are spaced out across the sand and naturally protected by the dunes. The area surrounding the hives is quite uncontaminated and rich in typically Mediterranean vegetation.
The honey produced in the park is best enjoyed with bread or mixed with sheep’s milk ricotta or other fresh or mature cheeses. It can also be used in a cold spelt and turkey salad, with a dash of balsamic vinegar.
Only a limited quantity of honey is produced in the park and is sold directly from small local shops.
