The Valley of the Nativity Scenes

The centuries-old history of the Master figurine makers comes to life in a magical journey among the main nativity scenes in the Valle del Serchio, for an exciting experience between folklore and memory. 

The centuries-old tradition of the nativity scene is an integral part of the popular culture of this area, and the initiative The Valley of Nativity Scenes (6th edition) brings together all the nativity scenes that are set up in the Media Valle: from the most traditional, true works of art and craftsmanship, to the most innovative ones, and then the living nativity scenes, re-enactments in costume that animate the streets of the historic centers.  

Also enriching the festival is a rich calendar of Christmas events, such as: 

• Barga in Chocolate, December 7-8
• Christmas markets
• Santa's Villages
• Befana's Lodges
• Ice skating rinks
• Extraordinary openings of museums and craft workshops

The program also includes a section dedicated to itinerary proposals, with suggested routes that combine visits to several nativity scenes and participation in initiatives in different places on the same day.  

The Valley of the Nativity Scenes concludes on January 6 with the arrival of the Befana, another great tradition of the area.
