Since 2001 the ancient village of Radicofani, on the days of June 1st and 2nd, has come alive in the name of the rediscovery of ancient traditions. Two days dedicated to the re-enactments of the main working, culinary, crafts and livelihood traditions, in the name of memory and time spent in the ancient village of Ghino di Tacco.
The streets and squares come alive with craftsmen at work, displays of ancient agricultural tools, open cellars, re-enactment of the hand harvest and threshing with vintage machines. The opening of the party takes place on the evening of June 1st with a large dinner of typical dishes followed by the dance. On June 2, the party begins in the morning with the parade of agricultural machines and continues with the commemoration of the masters at work. In the afternoon, the "quadrille" takes place in the square, followed by the re-enactment of the threshing with vintage machines and the stacking of the haystack. Until the evening, the village is animated by itinerant groups and theatrical performances. In addition to threshing, the moment of milking and the production of cheese in the square is recreated, as well as the collective work of the laundry with ash. The cellars, the knife grinder, the blacksmith, the carpenter, the shoemaker, the people who manufacture wicker baskets and the embroiderer are open. Throughout the day, the group "Compagnia Arcieri Cacciatori Prima" recreates the moment of the hairstyle of the hides and the construction of bows.
The purpose of the party proposed by the Radicofani community is to involve visitors by making them rediscover their past, but also to remind themselves of their deep roots. During the festival, food stands are operating with traditional peasant menus.
