The Chigiana International Festival & Summer Academy is celebrating 10 years with an edition themed “Traces” (Tracce) that will be held from July 5 to September 2, with more than 100 concerts in the most picturesque places in Siena and the Sienese lands.
The Filarmonica della Scala directed by Myung-Whun Chung will be the protagonist of “Concert for Italy” (Concerto per l'Italia) in Piazza del Campo on July 19 at 9:30 p.m.

This will be one of the great events of the Festival, which includes 8 major symphony concerts, another large open-air event in Piazza del Campo, 5 opera performances, 8 first exhibitions, more than 800 musical performers involved, 31 courses, 7 production laboratories, 8 residency trainings.
A contemporary focus will be dedicated to Hungarian composer György Ligeti (1923-2006), considered one of the leading and most original personalities of the New Music.
