The 6ᵗʰ Francigena Film Festival, a showcase of short films from around the world, is taking place in the Year of the Jubilee, with a Special Edition rich in moving and compelling stories.
San Gimignano is the magical location for this summer film festival, scheduled for August 29 and 30 in the Arena Estiva Cinema (Summer Cinema Arena) at the Rocca di Montestaffoli, an enchanting place behind the Cathedral and Collegiate Church.
This edition sees many a cinematic work on the development of the “journey” of man, in all its facets and from different cinematographies: journeys in time, of discovery and rediscovery, journeys of hope, into the future, journeys of love, experiential paths, faith, stories from the four corners of the globe ... A Festival able to bridge cultures—open, inclusive, cross-cultural, unique.
The Festival program includes the screening of the finalist short films during the day on Friday, August 29. Then on Saturday, August 30, there will be the announcement of the winners, followed by a screening of old films about San Gimignano and a unique screening of the first film ‘shot’ in San Gimignano in 1925, a full century ago: “Il Fu Mattia Pascal.”
There will also be time dedicated to a Visions section that will have its ‘spin-off’ in the city of Colle di Val d’Elsa in October 2025.
Admission to the festival is free of charge.
Updates are published on the Festival’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
