On Easter and Easter Monday, the Palio of the Etruscan Coast returns to San Vincenzo. The thirteenth edition of the only palio in the world that takes place on the sand returns on the opening of the tourist season in high Maremma with a week of events, from 14th to 22nd April, dedicated to the winning horses and jockeys of the Palio, as well as the historic games, and to art and culture with talk shows and shows until the sailing competition.
Competing for the “cencio” will be, like tradition, the eight communes of the Etruscan Coast (Rosignano Marittimo, Cecina, Bibbona, Castagneto Carducci, San Vincenzo, Campiglia Marittima, Suvereto and Piombino). Last year San Vincenzo won with the jockey Giovanni Atzeni, riding Umatilla.
It starts April 14th with the exhibition “Cavalli and Cavalletti” which will involve the commercial walk of San Vincenzo, coinciding with the exposition of 20 works created by the artistic centre of San Vincenzo and the Liceo Artistico Marco Polo of Cecina, the personal of the artist Sara Guerrini in the Sala Torre (from April 14th until 21st), the evening event is dedicated to the presentation of the drape and the meeting with the jockey Erik Fumi, at the Sala Torre (April 18th), the gala with the cover band of Rino Gaetano with special guest Marco Morandi at the Garden Theatre Resort (April 20th) and naturally two main events with the Quintana (April 21st) and the Palio accompanied by the sailing (April 22nd).
