Art, music and cinema, Manifattura Tabacchi is not abandoning Florentines during the long and complicated summer of 2020. The busy events program gets underway onWednesday 24 June designed to offer something for everyone focused on the urban space’s central ethos: the relationship between humans and the environment. This summer’s happening space is the Giardino della Ciminiera, a temporary garden by Antonio Perazzi, which will remain open to the public until 13th September.
NAM - Not a Museum will be inaugurated on June 24, a new contemporary art platform based on interdisciplinarity, the involvement of the community and the relationship between art, nature and science. The first work hosted at MT will be the site-specific installation Arno - Imaginary Topography by Andreco. The exhibition La meraviglia has been extended to 26th July. NAM will also host Radio Papesse every Wednesday with sound, radio and podcasts, Collettivo Phase, Attivisti della danza, Fumofonico with readings and contemporary art performances for a lively summer.
Live music returns with jazz and classical music nights by Scuola di Musica di Fiesole and DJ sets featuring top Florentine names. Thursdays are all about LoudLift LIVE by Matteo Gioli: six dates with the most promising nights on the Italian independent scene.
Cinema returns thanks to Fondazione Stensen. From 21st July to 13th September, piazza dell’Orologio (entrance from via delle Cascine 33) becomes an outdoor arena showing arthouse films and previews. si trasforma in una vera e propria arena all’aperto, tra anteprime e cinema d’essai. Children will enjoy the free Monday and Tuesday workshops organized in collaboration with Centrale dell’arte and Fattoria Didattica Cuore Verde, and the neighbourhood bike tours around Puccini Cascine, San Iacopino, Isolotto and Novoli (booking required on www.manifatturatabacchi.com/agenda).
