Maggiolata Lucignanese

La Maggiolata is Lucignano's flower festival. A community's tribute to the arrival of spring. 

La Maggiolata is a popular festival held every year in a wonderful and unique setting: the elliptical-shaped medieval village of Lucignano. It is a special opportunity to get to know and appreciate the beauty of the place, a land of enchantment and magical atmospheres, and at the same time witness an event of rare beauty. 

During the days of Maggiolata, the streets of the town, the narrow and characteristic alleys, balconies and arches of this special place are covered with floral compositions. A parade of floats, completely decorated with flowers, accompanied by marching bands and folklore groups from all parts of Italy and even abroad, travels along the entire ring of village streets. A historical procession precedes and announces the start of the festival. The districts joyfully compete for the prize for making the most beautiful float. 

In addition, for about ten days during the Maggiolata period (and on the two Sundays of the festival for both lunch and dinner) a renowned food stand allows people to enjoy the specialties of local cuisine.

The 2023 edition will be held on May 21, May 23 (night), May 28 and June 1 (night).
