Coppa Risi'atori

On June 4 the famous Coppa Risi'atori is held in Livorno, a great race that, together with the Coppa Barontini, the Giostra dell'Antenna and the Palio Marinaro, is part of the "great classics" of Livorno's rowing tradition.

The name of the competition derives from the word "risicatori", fearless longshoremen who, aboard small "gozzi" boats, were ready to face all weather conditions to grab the right to unload the goods of ships entering the port of Livorno, even ready to throw themselves into stormy waters if it came to the rescue of ships in port.

The Coppa Risiatori is an exciting and tiring offshore cross-country race.

The eight historic districts compete starting from the Torre della Meloria, located about 5 kilometers outside the Molo Novo seawall, which is the entrance to Livorno port, and ending at the Darsena Nuova, in front of the cantine of the Borgo Cappuccini district. 
Spectators can watch the race near the tip of the Molo Mediceo, on the dock deck, and on the shores above the cantine.
