On December 9, a day in the footsteps of the Supreme Poet, in the heart of San Gimignano, to discover the places, works and flavors associated with Dante Alighieri and his Divine Comedy.
In 1300 Dante Alighieri visited the town of San Gimignano, where he delivered a famous political harangue in the Palazzo Comunale, inside the hall that today bears his name.
Between the historic center and the countryside, the itinerary Dante's San Gimignano winds its way through the places that saw the Supreme Poet pass through, and tells its story through ancient documents, while also immersing itself in local flavors and discovering modern works inspired by his most famous composition, the Divine Comedy.
The route starts from the splendid rooms of the Palazzo Comunale, and is divided into a series of stops at places filled with charm, including the Rocca di Montestaffoli, the Duomo, Porta San Giovanni and the Church of San Lorenzo in Ponte. The route through the historic center will be accompanied by verses from the Divine Comedy, declaimed by characters encountered along the way.
The event is organized by the Municipality, in collaboration with the San Gimignano Civic Museums.
