The Geothermal Hills Festival returns to enliven the summer evenings in the villages of the Val di Cecina, filling places of great historical and naturalistic charm with shows and performances.
This yearly appointment takes place in the municipalities of Pomarance, Castelnuovo Val di Cecina, Monteverdi Marittimo and Monterotondo Marittimo: a festival that brings theatre, music and dance to the villages of the area that inspired Dante's Inferno centuries ago.
Dedicated to contemporary drama and open to welcoming multidisciplinarity, the Geothermal Hills Festival has been recognised by the Ministry of Culture as one of the theatre festivals of national importance.
With its diffuse performances, the festival crosses the most representative locations of this area of the Val di Cecina, such as the squares of historic villages, nature reserves and theatres, and also redevelops some spaces closed to the public, which become for one evening unusual stages, rich in meaning and significance.
Each edition presents to the public a programme full of shows, national premieres, established artists and young talents, to bring together the most interesting paths of artistic research, ranging from new works, revisited literary classics, debuts and repertoire successes.
Alongside the main programme there will be side events dedicated to public engagement and audience development (workshops, master classes, meetings with artists).
