The Festival of the Saint Francis Walks "Journeying the Change" are six days of walking along the paths of Saint Francis, between Tuscany's Valtiberina and Umbria's Upper Tiber Valley, through seven municipalities and two regions.
Six days of meeting and dialogue in search of a shared idea of sustainable development of communities and territories.
Since 2017, Progetto Valtiberina has been organizing the Festival to promote Franciscan paths and related issues, the experience and testimony of Saint Francis. The event focuses on important issues, such as the enhancement of the territory and environmental, social and economic sustainability.
As in the two previous editions, the 2022 edition will take place in an itinerant way, with a real "route in stages" that, starting from Citerna, will arrive at Sansepolcro, Caprese Michelangelo, Pieve Santo Stefano, Anghiari and Città di Castello, physically and conceptually uniting the symbolic places of Saint Francis' passage.
This sixth edition of the Festival of the Saint Francis Walks will take place over two consecutive weekends: August 26 to 28 and September 2 to 4.
At the center of the program is "change" in the plurality of its meanings, never so topical: social, economic, climatic change, change in international balances and communication systems. Whether considered as a term with positive or negative meaning, any process of building future visions inevitably passes through change and constant confrontation with it.
