Concerts in the Medici Villas and the heart of Florence, in Piazza Santissima Annunziata and Santa Croce, and an educational project for young musicians. The Orchestra Regionale della Toscana’s rich program this year offers many events that combine originality and artistic quality in stunning locations. The program begins with the traditional Concert on April 25 at the Teatro Verdi in Florence, with the premiere of Symphony from Giorgio Battistelli’s Experimentum Mundi, featuring Peppe Servillo as the leading voice. The newest addition to the season is the program “Ville e Giardini incantati” (Enchanted Villas and Gardens), realized in collaboration with Tuscany’s Polo Museale and the Region of Tuscany, with eight summer dates that will bring music to the UNESCO World Heritage Villas beginning May 26. Free visits and Orchestra concerts at the Medici Villas of Petraia and Cerreto Guidi are included, as well as in the gardens at the Villas of Castello and Poggio a Caiano. As part of the Musart festival, on July 19, a concert will be held in Piazza Santissima Annunziata in Florence: 150 members of the Orchestra will perform an incredible repertoire, from Boléro by Ravel to the Carmina Burana. The season continues in September with Musica in Santa Croce: two concerts a week for the entire month will be held in the splendid Cenacolo in Santa Croce, in front of The Last Supper, Vasari’s recently restored masterpiece. For the finale, ORT will turn its attention to new talents with an educational course for young musicians, supported by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage; the open-call to participate in “Yo Yo” closes May 8 and is reserved for string musicians under 26 years old who would like to aim for a career in an orchestra.
