Tour from Bonistallo Park to Carmignano Castle
An artistic and naturalistic tour in the beautiful setting of Montalbano and the Medici countryside
A route around the historic Rocca di Carmignano to admire views, the parish churches and villas of the area, but also an opportunity to learn more about the historical elements that have contributed to the formation of such a characteristic area of the Tuscan countryside.
From the Bargo Mediceo di Bonistallo we will walk along small rural roads to San Lorenzo in Montalbiolo, an example of a Romanesque church in the area.
We will arrive at the characteristic village of Carmignano, whose Pieve di San Michele preserves the famous "Visitation" by Iacopo Carucci known as Pontormo, before climbing to the Rocca to enjoy an extraordinary panorama that reaches as far as Florence.
Through vineyards and olive groves, we will arrive along the course of the Furba Stream, we will follow an unusual but very interesting itinerary in terms of ecology and landscape, until we cross the Ombrone River at the beautiful Leopoldo II Bridge, a work referred to as the first suspension bridge built in Italy.
The tour will take place on Friday, June 2, 2023, starting at 17:00 pm.
