Volterra walking tour
Guided excursion to the city center of Volterra, the former Psychiatric Asylum and the Balze Natural Protected Area
A unique proposal that combines the historical and landscape aspects of the ancient Etruscan city-state with the touching experience of the exclusive visit to the former Psychiatric Hospital, a place that will not fail to make us reflect.
We will start the day with a beautiful walk around the alleys and most representative places of the historical center of Volterra touching places such as Piazza dei Priori, the Roman Amphitheater, the Medici Fortress and Porta all'Arco.
We will then head to the exceptional Balze area, admiring some of the most incredible hillside views in Tuscany.
In the early afternoon we will take a guided tour of the Former Volterra Asylum, a moving experience that through the rooms and pavilions will bring us to know the historical legacy of a path in often difficult balance between dignity and mental distress. For more information please visit "Manicomio di Volterra" website.
Reservations are recommended by October 25 for registration of names at the visitor center. The participation fee includes a guided tour of the Former Asylum (pavilions and museum).
