On the slopes of the Pratomagno massif, at an altitude of about 1000 meters, rises Vallombrosa, a beautiful and pristine wooded area that is home to the great Abbey of Vallombrosa, a large monastery where a small community of monks still keeps alive the Benedictine spirit of the founder, St. John Gualberto.
Vallombrosa is a Biogenetic Natural Reserve, an ideal place to walk immersed in nature and spirituality far from noise and confusion.
From the mystical atmosphere of the Abbey of Vallombrosa we will enter the woods of the Nature Reserve, retracing the history of the order founded by St. John Gualberto. We will follow a fantastic educational trail to the Forest of St. Anthony, and then continue the trek with a succession of emotions up to Mount Secchieta!
The Paradisino, a place you can visit during our trek, is a place related to the beginnings of monastic life in Vallombosa, when it was the hermitage of monks particularly eager for solitude and intimacy with God. Today it is a didactic site for the students of Forest Sciences at the University of Florence.
