San Casciano dei Bagni, at the center of a border territory between Chiana and Orcia, is the third largest municipality in Europe in terms of thermal water flow, with more than 40 sulfur springs that were discovered by the Etruscans and later consolidated into thermal facilities by the Romans, hosting emperors such as Octavian Augustus and Horace.
There are many historical testimonies of the village such as the "bagni liberi", stone basins built by the Romans, the wash houses, the medieval village with the Palazzo Comunale, the Collegiata di San Leonardo and Chiesa di Sant'Antonio, the Palazzo dell'Arcipretura, the Porticciola and the Gattineto.
Optional room and board to be paid directly on site, see "supplemental charges" section.
