Pitti Palace guided tour: magnificence at the court of the Medici
Guided tour of the Palatine Gallery: from the history of the palace to masterpieces by artists such as Botticelli and Caravaggio
We will visit the Palatine Gallery, housed within the magnificent rooms of Palazzo Pitti in Florence. Together with the Boboli Gardens, it forms part of the Uffizi Galleries.
Located on the main floor of the palace, the Palatine Gallery is divided into 28 rooms and vaunts the famous "picture gallery" of the Grand Dukes of Tuscany, a unique setting of its kind as it respects the taste of past centuries, with the paintings placed in several rows, selected by decorative criteria, and not by period and schools.
You can admire the famous private collection of the Medici family in their last residence, which includes important masterpieces by Botticelli, Titian, Rubens, Caravaggio and many other Italian and European painters from the 15th to the 17th century.
You will discover the history of the Palace and its inhabitants from the Medici family and the Lorraine, to the King of Italy, as Florence was the residence of the King when it became the capital of Italy for 5 years from 1865 to 1870.
