One hour of cycling before tasting good wine and a long journey through history.
Starting from San Giuliano Terme, we will see the Ancient Romans ruins and cross an area with medieval buildings: Rigoli, Molina di Quosa, Ripafratta, Avane, Filettole, Nozzano.
The rivalries and clashes between the city of Lucca and the Pisan Republic are well shown by towers and fortresses we will meet. The churches tell us about the monastic civilization developed here even before the year 1000. We will be also able to observe the northern profile of Monte Pisano which divides the two cities, but also supplied water, in pre-industrial times, for agricultural and milling activities.
We will see all of this panoramas and small villages by cycling comfortably on proper cycle streets along the Serchio and the Ozzeri canal. An interesting itinerary full of breathtaking landscapes that ends in the vineyards of a local farm that has been producing various natural wines since 1986. After discovering the winery of the company we will taste different types of wine accompanied by delicacies from the garden, pampered by the sunset light.
The way back we will take us to San Giuliano Terme, our final step.
