Castiglion Fibocchi is a splendid village located on the Valdarnese slope of Pratomagno whose origins date back to the 12th century. The town, mentioned by Repetti in the Historical Physical Geographical Dictionary of Tuscany, hosts an ancient medieval carnival in which the countryside and seigniories unite to celebrate the "Festa del Carnasciale," with precious and multicolored Baroque-style masks embellishing the narrow streets of the village, giving life to one of the most spectacular and authentic carnival events in Tuscany.
We will start right from the center going into the woods that form the last intersections between Pratomagno and the Valdarnesi hills. We will admire the beautiful views coming down from the ridges of Poggio Baselica, we will find the ruins of a Pieve from the year one thousand built on the remains of an ancient Paleochristian church, we will pause along the path at a special viewpoint before concluding our tour among the colorful atmospheres of the village in masks: a unique experience!
