Villa Chigi Saracini was built by Count Galgano Saracini who wanted a grand house for his family surrounded by a large park. Building the villa meant pulling down part of the town's pre-existing castle walls. The villa and chapel were built between 1820 and 1840 by Agostino Fantasici. The layout of the park, which visitors can still admire today, was planned by Count Guido Saracini, great music lover and founder of Chigiana Music Accademy.
