Livorno is the home of a traditional painting retrospective which is held in the summer

A walk along the seaside, especially during the “Rotonda D’Ardenza” art retrospective, is the preferred destination for the majority of residents in Livorno during the warm summer months. It is here that every year, during the first half of August, under a characteristic pine grove that was loved by painters Amedeo Modigliani and Giovanni Fattori, the painting retrospective called the “Premio Rotonda” gathers the work of Livornese painters and other foreign artists. It features the work of over a hundred artists, each prevailing from different artistic influences. The retrospective began in 1953 as a painting competition following the wishes of the painter Mario Borgiotti.
