Collezione Gori di Villa Celle, Pistoia

The Gori Art Collection at Villa Celle, Pistoia

Monumental sculpture at an open-air venue

The Villa Celle and its surrounding park were built by the Fabbroni, a noble family from Pistoia who purchased the estate which had belonged to the Pazzaglia Dynasty in the XV century. During the first half of the XIX century, the garden was transformed into a Romantic park based on a project by architect Giovanni Gambini. It has been owned by art collector Giuliano Gori since 1969. By collecting monumental works of Contemporary Art, Gori has transformed the villa and surrounding park into an open-air museum. Many famed international artists are included in the Gori Collection such as: Magdalena Abakanowicz, Dani Karavan, Sol Le Witt, Fausto Melotti, Pistoletto, Anne and Patrick Poirier and Mauro Staccioli.
