From the highest point of Elba an amazing view of the island

The island of Elba is not only known for its beautiful and clean beaches but also for what it has to offer in terms of sport, nature walks and trails through the mountains. You cannot miss the chance to trek to the highest peak on the island and admire the panorama from this peak. You can admire the extent of the entire island and the surrounding islands of the archipelago. You can reach the site by the two-seater cable car, which takes about 14 minutes and departs from Marciana, otherwise you can walk the length along the many trails available.

The mountainous area is characterized by typical Mediterranean vegetation and large granite rocks. As you proceed on your trek you are apt to encounter oak, chestnut and hornbeam trees. The fauna is composed mainly of moufflon and wild boar.

The trail that brings you to the very peak of the mountain begins on a path of chestnut trees and continues for 40 minutes until you encounter a retreat which was used for herders and a fenced area for their herd animals. As you proceed to follow the trail the scenery becomes all the more evocative. The breathtaking view from will compensate for the effort and fatigue had along the trek.

Marciana is situated on the slopes of Mount Capanne on the west side of the Island of Elba at 375 meters above sea level.
