Museo del fumetto e dell’immagine di Lucca

Italian Cartoon Museum

Discover the art form in Lucca, the international capital of comics

Located in the former Lorenzini Barracks, in the historic centre of Lucca, the Cartoon Museum was created to conserve and display the collection of around 30,000 original drawings and 500,000 albums and magazines which have been gathered since 1965 in conjunction with the annual International Comics Salon in Lucca.

The exhibits rotate regularly, but it is possible to search the full archive through computer stations in the museum. Workshops and guided tours are offered to school groups which explore the archives including multimedia projections and first person accounts by comic artists which offer a voyage through the history and the world of comics.
